The Museum Service has a large collection of agricultural items from mole traps to hay rakes. We also have a significant collection of working historic machines and horse-drawn vehicles.
How the collection is used
Many of the items in the Agricultural Collection can be seen in action at Acton Scott Historic Working Farm. Others can be seen on display at Much Wenlock and Ludlow Museum.
Preserving agricultural skills
The Museum Service also aims to preserve and demonstrate traditional agricultural skills and crafts. This is reflected in our staff who include a wheelwright and a blacksmith. Our events programme also includes a range of craft demonstrations. This ensures that the knowledge connected with using and caring for the objects in our collection also survives.
