WLSF description
The WLSF exists to bring together organizations and individuals interested in local studies in and around the Borough of Telford & Wrekin. It is a fully constituted group that meets quarterly to share information, expertise and resources and to plan joint ventures. There is currently a mailing list of 30 contacts representing local history, family history and civic societies, reminiscence groups, museums, archives, libraries colleges and the local authority, and of these 18 are active members.
The WLSF aims to promote and encourage local studies in the area by organizing exhibitions, day events and conferences, working with other organisations to widen access to resources and by publishing bi-annual leaflets to advertise the interests and meetings of member societies.
The events, meetings and organisations advertised on these pages are an indication of the popularity of local history in the Telford and Wrekin area. The calendar this year is fuller than ever before, but we know there are more groups and societies out there that are not part of the WLSF.
