The Open Hills, Old Ways, and Commons Project aims to support community engagement in exploring the “open hills” - the upland areas in the Stiperstones and Corndon Hill Country LPS area - the “old ways” - routeways through history that link one place to another and provide opportunities to observe and understand the landscape.

Community volunteers are surveying and recording discoveries on the hills and commons and along ancient routes, revealed by LiDAR, maps and other documents. They are led by independent archaeologist Mike Greene (Project Officer), with support from Bob Silvester (Clwyd-Powys Archaeological Trust) and Hugh Hannaford (Shropshire Council Archaeology Service).
