Most Shropshire villages didn't have water piped to taps until the mid 20th Century. Water had to be collected from streams or springs as here at Tugford. In the background is a dovecote from where pigeons fed off waste grain around Tugford mill which can be seen on the left. Pigeons were an common part of the Victorian diet.
