This shows the Market Hall / Town Hall and the Boughey memorial town lamp. This Italianate building was built as an indoor market hall and erected in 1860. It was later used as a town hall and social venue. The court room was on the ground floor in the centre. Courts were held here in the late 19th and early 20th century. Often it was referred to as the 'Town Hall' and the 'Corn Exchange'. From 1913, there was a side entrance to a cinema called 'The Picture House'.
The Boughey memorial is now on Station Road. This was erected after death of JF Boughey of Aqualate Park in 1907.
