This view by John Joseph Powell shows the riverside at Bridgnorth in 1828. Amongst the buildings in the foreground stood the refectory of the Franciscan friary which by this time had become an ale-house. It was demolished when a carpet factory expanded onto its site in 1856. (Image courtesy of Shrewsbury Museums Service and www.darwincountry.org)
