This map gives a guide as to how the Foley family exploited the Wyre Forest as a source for charcoal for their ironworks in the late 17th Century. Some aspects are unclear. It is not certain which woods in Ribbesford were exploited and whether they were held on a lease or whether coppice stands were purchased when required. The blank areas of the map should be taken with particular care; it would be surprising if no coppice wood was ever purchased from them by the Foley partnerships.
