This extract from the Sherriff map of 1776 shows Acton Scott Common before it had been enclosed. The triangular angle of the common partly surveyed by the ASHP team can be seen centre right above the letter "D" of Glebeland. Within 40 years the common had disappeared and had been replaced by hedged fields. Today this is the site of the village crossroads, woodland and the village hall. The rectangular intrusion on the common was a squatters' holding.
