St Chad's College was a college of canons attached to St. Chad's Church until it was closed in the 1540s. The canons were minor clergy and clerks. Some of the buildings survive, encased within later 18th Century structures.
St Chad's College was a college of canons attached to St. Chad's Church until it was closed in the 1540s. The canons were minor clergy and clerks. Some of the buildings survive, encased within later 18th Century structures.
Until its suppression in 1547 St Chad’s College provided accommodation for clergy serving St Chad’s church and its parish. Thirteen former clergy were receiving pensions in 1552.
