Summary
The red sandstone Shearmen’s Hall was the guild hall of those who finished the Welsh cloth purchased by Shrewsbury drapers. These workers were said at the time to number a thousand in 1621. In fact the figure was less than two hundred, but it was by far the largest, and probably the poorest, of the trade guilds.
