This photo (left) is undated but must be from about 1914/15.
The house is signed for Cheshires Windmill Brewery, Windmill Lane, Smethwick. This company was purchased by Mitchells & Butlers of Smethwick in 1913.
It was policy for M & B to photograph all their houses, suggesting the photo was taken after take-over.
Note: The Lion on the plinth.

The House was still owned by M & B,
and the Lion was still on the plinth.
The Woodman is now (Sept. ’06), a private house. The lion is still on its plinth!
