It’s been a good day that has filled me with cheer, and it has ended well. I was able, with God’s help, to settle a dispute over rent payments between Richard Prynce and his tenant Thomas France, the glover. It is a mystery to me why men like Prynce, so full of cleverness, as these lawyers are, cannot be full of charity to their fellow men.
Now to bed, perhaps I’ll dream of my school. I have great plans. One day soon, by the grace of God whilst I still live, a new school of fine stone shall rise on this spot and the name of Shrewsbury School shall be known throughout England.
