Wealth brings its own problems. When I am not worrying about my daughters, who I have to pay husbands to to take off my hands, it’s my servants! My fine house, which many a country squire would envy, has also been the target of thieves. In 1582 one of my own servants plotted with that knave the town clerk to rob me. Both men were hanged at Kingsland. Last night my counting house was robbed but the villains were disturbed and ran. The fools even lost their horses and the constables are showing the beasts around the town to see if any recognize them.
