The David Parkes Sketchbook Appeal
David Parks Sketch
The Friends have been successful in raising the £1,125 needed towards the purchase of this early nineteenth century sketchbook. David Parkes (1763-1833) was a prolific artist who travelled around Shropshire drawing many buildings and antiquities, a number of which are no longer in existance. This volume will be a unique and invaluable resource for local historians.
Many thanks to all those who contributed to this appeal especially to the Shropshire Family History Society for their generous donation.
New Chairman for the Friends
David Lloyd has been elected as Chairman of the Friends of Shropshire Archives. David was Chairman in 1996 - 2000 and we are delighted to welcome him back in this role.
