The archives contain some 9,000 documents and ephemera relating to Market Drayton and the surrounding villages, mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries.
The archives collection includes:
Deeds
Letterheads, invoices and other business Documents
Programmes
Cuttings
Photographs
Maps and plans
Local Newspapers
An important but as yet uncatalogued part of the collection is the records of Gower & Son, the ironfounders who were the town's largest employer in the 19th century.
The archives also contain various directories, books and articles concerning Drayton and the surrounding villages.
The archives are located upstairs, and we regret that they are not open to casual callers. Researchers should make specific arrangements to visit the archives (see 'Contacts').
