Constructed in the 1870’s. The far kiln was extended forward to increase its capacity. The brick structure on the top is thought to have housed machinery to assist the drawing of stone filled trucks up the specially constructed tramway embankment. This may only have been used for the feeding of the much later cupola for burning dolomitic limestone. Both draw kilns were closed down as the Hoffman kiln opened c.1914.
