This connected the Limeworks to the mainline system allowing coal to be brought in and limestone and burnt (quick) lime to be taken out. Originally opened as a through line around 1866 as part of the Potts line from Shrewsbury to the quarries at Nant Mawr, it became a closed ending siding in 1896 and was finally closed in 1914
