Constructed using brick. Square section. Base 3.44 x 3.48 m rising to a height of 42.5m. It was originally 5m shorter but following a complaint from a Colonel Moon – a principle shareholder - that smoke was filling his garden on nearby Pen-y-Foel its height was increased. To achieve this without making the tapering top too narrow, the original top was lowered by 3m and a non tapering addition was built giving the chimney its distinctive shape. The iron bands were a much later addition in the 1990s for safety/preservation purposes.
