Modern milking sheds are much cleaner than this and so milk collected here today is only given to animals not humans.
Cows are milked twice a day. In the summer they have to be brought in twice a day from the fields, but in the winter they are kept there all the time. Their muck is collected for spreading on the fields. Hay is stored above the cows in the loft and they are given water three or four times a day in the winter.
