This contained the choir where monks would sing. The high altar was also here, and it is thought that the shrine of St. Milburge was behind the altar. Pilgrims came from far and wide to pray at St. Milburge’s shrine; an important source of income for the priory. In the 14th Century a Lady Chapel was added to the east end. It was dedicated to “Our Lady”, that is the Virgin Mary, Jesus’ mother.
