This estate contains the first local authority house built in Shrewsbury. An estate of some 60 houses were built during the First World War, design and layout were based on the Garden City movement which was becoming established at the time. The estate was named after Col. C Wingfield of Onslow Park, who was the Mayor of Shrewsbury at the time.
