This was the site of the Old Heath Farm and associated farmland. In 1960 Old Heath Farm was auctioned by its owner CJ Wingfield of Onslow. At that time much of the area surrounding the farm had been developed or was in the process of being developed for housing, factories and schools.
Following the sale of the property, the farmhouse was demolished and the land sold to developers such as Fletchers for housing in the Mount Pleasant Road area and an industrial estate was built on the land along side the railway.
At the time of the auction, the farm was leased to Mr W J Randles, the farmhouse had 6 bedrooms and there were a large number of outbuildings. It would appear that the farmhouse had been leased to the Randles family for a number of years, the 1881census shows that John and Sarah Randles and their eight children, three agricultural labourers and two domestic servants occupied the house.
