In the late 19th century, William Bunney of Shrewsbury owned a considerable estate centred on Middleton Scriven. Much of this was sold in 1919, but the family retained a cottage in the village which was eventually occupied by Margaret Bunney. Margaret was a keen photographer; this page shows some of the photos that she took between the wars to record family visits in and around the village

The Wheatland Hunt can trace its roots back to 1811 when a Mr Skelding formed a pack of hounds. It reformed later in the 19th Century. In 1919 Arthur Buston of Astbury Hall moved its kennels from Cleobury North to Eardington

Berkshire Aviation

Berkshire Aviation were formed after the First World War to give short air flights to spectators. They toured the country, flying from large fields. Pilot CS Hunt visited Shrewsbury around 1924; this shows his Avro 504 awaiting take-off.
