Until the 1950s there were eleven herds of milking cows, some very small, of which nine walked through the town streets every day to their pastures.(Kenny Milner Local Resident)
Robin Hood
The propietor of the Robin Hood Public House Rob Leese next door to The Bank Farm kept 1 cow and had 2 acres of ground in 1941. In 1842 John Nicklin had 7 acres. the more derelict stone built west side has had a loft over it (personal recollection of Kenny Milner). There were many slats of wood included in the stone gable that would have rotted more quickly as the building ceased to be watertight. The east side had once been lower but Broseley Brindle bricks had been used to build up the wall. This made a shelf on the inside as the stone walls were thicker.
