Around the towns, villages and countryside of Shropshire, there are a surprising number of sundials, some old, some modern, some accurate and some eccentric. Most of them are on the south walls of churches or in the churchyards.but there are a few elsewhere on buildings and in gardens.
Shropshire Sundials and OS OpenSpace Maps.
Until now, there are about twenty dials in the website, mostly in East Shropshire, but hopefully it will eventually cover the whole of the county.
The photos of the sundials and the text that goes with them are the work of two members of the British Sundial Society, John Lester and Phil Walker.
Our dials can be viewed with the OS OpenSpace new mapping system, by going down to the Related Webpage below and click on "Shropshire Sundials".
