These accounts date from the late 15th and early 16th Centuries, when Chelmarsh was held by the Crown. They record the money received and paid out by the bailiff. The accounts tend to be very repetitive and so in some cases, only extracts are given.

The account of William Birde, bailiff there for the said time
Arrears
Thus he accounts for £7-3-10 ½ of arrears from the last account the previous year as appears by examination of the foot of the accounts

Rent of assizes with new rent and increases of rent
And of £6-10-0 received of rent and leases there this year, paid at the times of the Annunciation of the Blessed Mary and St Michael in equal portions. And of 4/- received for the increase of rent of one parcel of land called Wellenhales and one parcel of land called Danyeslonde thus devised to John Wheeler, Margery his wife and Richard his son for the term of their several lives by roll of court from the 25th year preceding beyond 11/- of ancient rent paid for the aforesaid term. And of 6d of increased rent for land and tenements formerly in the tenure of Richard Phelippes then demised to John Dode and Isabel his wife for the term of their lives beyond the ancient rent by roll of court for 24 years preceding. And of 6d received of new rent for one messuage and half a virgate of land formerly of Richard Phelippes and then demised to John Dode and Isabel his wife for the term of their lives according to the custom of the manor by roll of court for 24 years preceding. And of 3d received of increased rent of one toft called Holoweslonde formerly in the tenure of William Barowe then demised to William Parloa for the term of his life according to the custom of the manor by roll of court for 25 years preceding. And the same William newly made one barn of 4 bays at his charge. And of 12d received of increased rent for 2 messuages and half a virgate of land with appurtenances in Chelmarsh called Leweinyslonde. Formerly of John Shakett, chaplain, beyond 4/- of ancient rent charged within the rent of assize, thus demised to Richard Bere, Agnes his wife and his heir and daughter Margerie Marshe, paying at the usual times by roll of court for 19 years preceding. And of 5/- received of increase of rent of one messuage and one virgate of land with appurtenances in Chelmarsh and one messuage and one virgate of land called Smytheslonde thus demised to Roger Crateforde for the term of his life received at the annunciation, beyond 15/- of ancient rent payable at the usual times, by roll of court for 19 years preceding.

But he reckons in money paid to Peter Beaupe, receiver of money of the lord there, of the charge of William Birde, now bailiff there, of his arrears of last year, 20/-, to the hand of John Platy, clerk of the court for his fees last year.

Sum allowances and payments 33/4. And thus is debted £12-17-5 ½. Of which is allowed of the said account of arrears 14/- assigned to John Platy for the receiver for examining the rental at Bewdley, Ernwood, Cleobury, Cleeton, Farlow and Highley as well as for other of his expenses in the service of the lord King as appears by bill.. And the debt is £12-3-5 ½. Of which is owed 16d of increase rent of one pasture called Mullelonde formerly in the tenure of William Hopkyns, pri’s of the said William in Chelmarsh, leased to him for the term of his life for 3/4 per year, of which 2/- was previously paid, … by roll of court for 9 years preceding, payable at the times of the Annunciation of the Blessed Mary and St Michael.. And thus the debt is against him £12-4-9 ½, of arrears 109/9 ½ and of profits £6-15-0. Of which is allowed in the said account of arrears 20d of part rent of Ewdon George, apportioned over repairs of tenements, in the cost of roofing the barn with stone tiles. And the same 15/- of arrears paid by the said receiver to the hand of the said John Pety, clerk of the court. And of the same arrears, 2/9 paid for the expenses of the receiver at Cleobury at the court held there. And of the same, 16d of his expenses coming to Ludlow for his account before the auditor. And debted £9-4-0 ½ of which the arrears are £4-10-4 ½ and the profits are £6-13-8.
