Vaughan's Mansion, College Hill, Shrewsbury (image)
This shows Vaughan's Mansion across its courtyard which was entered from The Square. As was common in medieval times, the most prestigious rooms were on the first floor. In this case they were accessed via a stone stairway on the left of the picture. The two wings to left and right have since been removed but the 13th Century hall survives within the Music Hall complex.
